Our technology was developed at Caltech, deployed with research partners like NASA, proven-out with customers like Netflix and Children’s Hospital, and now scaling to fleets, corporations, and municipalities nationwide. 

PowerFlex is seeking a dynamic Business Development lead for Partnership development, who will build and manage relationships with third party Partners in order to increase sales of PowerFlex Hardware and Software products. Operating as a subject matter expert in EV Charging Infrastructure, including product design, installation, incentives, and provisioning/commissioning, you will develop relationships with partners to expand PowerFlex’s presence in EV accounts and new markets. Your role will involve executing a key part of our go-to-market strategy by identifying partners in key market verticals, assessing synergies in offerings, structuring integration scopes, developing proposals, and leading contracting processes to secure partnerships. You will communicate across a variety of customer levels, from C-suite clients to Product Management, to legal and procurement departments. In this role you will be creating and delivering technical and financial proposals in collaboration with partners in order to close EV Projects across Fleets and MUSH markets.   

You will work closely with and have the support of PowerFlex’s hardware development and digital teams to define and build integrations with 3rd party partners hardware and software solutions in order to increase value for the final EV Fleet customer. You will meet regularly with all teams necessary to make EV Partnerships a success and build PowerFlex’s EV program with defined goals and timelines.  

The role will sit within the Strategic Market Business Development team at PowerFlex Technologies, which broadly develops and commercializes new market offerings including, Fleet EV Charging, Hardware Only Offerings, Software Services and Microgrid Solutions on the PowerFlex Technologies platform.  

Location
This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.) 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy focused on partnership collaboration and integration with third parties in the EV ecosystem, such as Vehicle OEMs, Fleet Management Companies, Telematics Providers, and Parking Lot Operators, to drive indirect sales of PowerFlex EV hardware and software solutions. 
  • Identify priority market segments and target partners whose integration with PowerFlex software will enhance their offerings, acting as sales force multipliers to expand PowerFlex’s reach. 
  • Build and grow a pipeline of potential partners through outreach strategies, including cold calling, email campaigns, networking, and participation in trade shows and conferences. 
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of partnership contracts, including defining pricing structures, software integration scopes and timelines, co-branding and marketing responsibilities, in collaboration with Legal, Market Commercialization, and Product Development teams. 
  • Support partners in the preparation of RFI, RFP, and RFQ submissions by coordinating cross-functional collaboration with internal teams across multiple disciplines to ensure successful proposals. 
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to create co-branded materials and campaigns with partners, including webinars, outreach initiatives, and marketing collateral, while gathering market insights to refine strategies. 
  • Translate partner feedback and requests into actionable product development and integration strategies, working closely with senior management, Product Owners, and Product Managers to influence the product roadmap and align it with customer needs. 
  • Support hardware and software product integration efforts to enhance partner offerings and deliver greater value to end customers. 
  • Represent the voice of the customer to senior management, contributing to the development of partnership business models, contracting structures, and revenue-generating pricing strategies that balance profitability with market share growth. 
  • Coordinate with business development teams across other segments (solar, battery storage, and EV charging) to implement cross-selling strategies and maximize synergies across PowerFlex’s portfolio.  

Qualifications
Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business Administration, Finance preferred, or equivalent work experience required 
  • 7+ years in sales in technology with significant and demonstrable B2B experience in partnerships and new market development, for software integrations and partnerships, Vehicle OEMs, Fleet Management Companies, or other fleet service providers 
  • Experience with electric vehicle services preferred 
  • Experience with Salesforce Customer Relationship Management Platform preferred 
  • Prior proven success in building new lines of business or partnership market development  
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally and with the leadership team 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Collaborative team player capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing and working efficiently and independently, self-starter, energetic attitude that can complete tasks and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Proven track record of successfully building and executing software partnership business models and new market development strategies  
  • Proven track record in building relationships throughout a partner/customer organization, from product development, to sales teams, to strategic market managers, to C-level executives.   
  • Ability to articulate complex issues and new business models through succinct, cohesive summaries and presentations   
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive within both entrepreneurial environment and emerging technologies cultures.   
  • Capable of and desire to thrive in uncertain, high change, highly dynamic culture in a high risk/high reward environment that requires the confidence to take on responsibilities across business functions outside of typical day to day job description.  
  • Knowledge of and existing network with Product Development Mangers, Energy Managers, Sustainability Managers, an C-level executives in Fortune 500 companies with strong renewable energy commitments a plus   
  • Knowledge of charging technology and onsite renewables a plus   

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $200,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position

Physical Requirements  
Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. 

Working Conditions 
Approximately 50% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment.  Up to 50% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites.
