The EVSE Service Technician 2 will be responsible for providing onsite technical support for PowerFlex’s electric vehicle charging equipment. This role will work with internal teams as well as directly with our clients to provide best-in-class customer service. This role will be part of the Asset Optimization and Customer Success team. 

Location
This role supports the field in Southern California, with a preference for candidates based in Los Angeles or San Diego. However, qualified candidates located anywhere in the Southern California region will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites for testing, maintenance, and repair of electric vehicle service equipment
  • Work with customer service and software support teams both on and off-site to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Configure electronic components for installation onsite
  • Schedule and coordinate service visits with clients
  • Update and maintain service records in internal ticketing systems
  • Provide feedback to hardware and software teams to drive continuous improvement of product
  • Manage accurate inventory counts of service parts used for field maintenance
  • Assist with set-up and commissioning of new EV charging sites 

Qualifications
Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar field
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Hands-on experience working with hardware in a laboratory or professional environment
  • Experience with Customer service or support
  • Experience working with Salesforce Service Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License  

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of electronics and three-phase circuits
  • Basic familiarity with command-line interface
  • Good understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, WiFi, IP addresses) is a big plus.
  • Self-starter – takes initiative to drive tasks to completion
  • A desire to provide the best possible service for our customers and stakeholders
  • Calm under pressure and can effectively prioritize competing tasks 

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $30 - $36 hourly. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

  • Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing walking and/or driving.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 50pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. 

Working Conditions 
Approximately 90% of the time is spent traveling and providing support on-site. 10% is spent in an office environment – preparing equipment, interacting with clients via phone/email, internal escalation of service tickets, participating in recurring Asset Management/Customer Success team meetings utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment.
