EVSE Development Engineer II
Scope of Job

The Development Engineer II will be responsible for assisting Powerflex’s Business Development team through the pre-contract engineering process. You will be involved in the overall vetting and preparing of projects for successful execution by the Project Engineering and Project Management team. Traveling on average 2-3 times a week on occasion. This individual must exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as demonstrate the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and externally.
Location
This role is open to be 100% remote in California or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or Los Angeles, CA.)
Responsibilities
- Design 30% layout for new EV charging sites
- Perform electrical site assessments for EV projects.
- Collaborate and set expectations with internal teams regarding Technical Due Diligence during the Project Development phase
- Help ensure project viability by communicating electric vehicle charging system technology requirements to Business Development team and Clients
- Request, review, and approve proposals from external vendors (electrical engineer, vendor, structural engineer, etc.).
- Review & Communicate cost information to Business Development team
- Present as a subject-matter expert on system requirements by identifying challenges, communicating them to the project team and providing creative solutions
- Work with wider engineering team to stay updated on best project practices to ensure a smooth project execution upon handoff to project construction team
- Review and Update EV component costs as necessary to ensure high accuracy in EV cost estimates
- Collaborate with process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance overall team efficiency.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required
- 1+ years experience in the electrical engineering industry or working with EVs
- Flexibility with work hours and travel as needed for site walks, up to 30%
- Understanding of Building & Electric Codes, EV charging, and basics of electrical engineering a plus
- Experience with SalesForce and Excel preferred
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a professional environment, working both with internal and external customers
- Exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills
- Thorough understanding of procedures and timelines of technical due diligence
- Collaborate cross-departmentally and help lead meetings between various stakeholders
- Partner with departments internal and external stakeholders
- Strong multi-tasking ability, proven engineering skills
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $72,000 - $120.000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
Working Conditions
Approximately 70% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. 30% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites.
